Shoot

I have recently become obsessed with Mad Men on A&E.  My nephew bought me season one on DVD and that is how I have ended my day the last week.  Of course, as with anything that I find that I enjoy I didn’t start watching until the 3rd season.  The other night Betty made Don buttered steak for dinner (of course she didn’t get to enjoy it since he brought Roger home unexpectedly and she ended up with a salad) but it just sounded so good.  How can it not be it’s cooked in butter?  So tonight I am going to attempt to cook butter steak.  I found this post on The Paupered Chef that has great directions.  So wish me luck!

With my steak though I have made Garlic Hasselback Potatoes with Herbed Sour Cream.  I found this recipe on the Food Network as one of the top 60 in 2009.  They smell heavenly in the oven right now and my stomach is growling.  I will post both recipes if they turn out as wonderful as I hope they go.

Till next time I wish all of you a Happy and Healthy 2010!

Merry Christmas from our Family to Yours!

Sorry Betty, but I just can not give you an A on these cookies.  I almost feel guilty about that since Betty Crocker made such an effort to enter the Gluten Free market.  These cookies have a way to go before I would spend almost $5 on a mix.

The mix is simple with a stick of softened butter, vanilla and an egg.  The mix will be crumbly and you just drop it by spoonfuls on the the tray.  Right out of the oven, I was impressed they were delicious.  My husband even liked them and he is very picky.  My problem with these cookies is that they are terrible after they have sat overnight.  They just crumble when you touch them.  I brought a couple in a baggie and put in the desk at work to snack on.  They are still there and it has been a week!!!

I will give them once more chance though and try them again and adjust something on them.  My suggestion though is to beware they aren’t all they are cracked up to be.  Keep trying Betty!

I am once again completely gluten free!!!! I have not been following the diet for about a year now which has not bothered me medically at all.   I know it is bad for me though so here I go again…

I have a couple of new recipes to try out this weekend and will hopefully have them posted next week.

Stay tuned.

I can not believe that I have not even looked at my site in months.  Today is Friday and work is very, very slow this time of year for me.  Even though I work for our County’s Public Works Department, the men are busy but for me here in the office it just is not.  (Though next week will make up for it)

My goal today is going to be to have my links back into my site.  My nephew changed servers months and months ago and I am so bad I just didn’t notice how much was actually missing from here.

So while I am busy working on here and maybe answering one phone call this afternoon, if I’m lucky.  I can’t even imagine how many new sites are out there that I haven’t checked out yet.  If you would like to be added to my links and I haven’t caught you please let me know!

Until later….

UPDATED 5 MINUTES LATER:

Ok…I haven’t lost everyone’s links they are under references.  I wonder when I did that….

UPDATED 1 HOUR LATER:

Ok…this is turning out to be a harder job then I anticipated.  Lost my link to the page so in the meantime here is the link…

Apple tree blossom

For the first time in years, yes years, I can actually smell the blossoms on the trees.  It is wonderful.  I forgot how wonderfully sweet apple blossoms smell.  Having my tonsils out was the best thing I could have ever done.  I hope that everyone is having a wonderful spring!
