I can’t believe it…
We just returned from a wonderful (almost wonderful I still had my cold the whole time) vacation in Alabama for a week. While the weather was cold and wet in New York it was perfect down south with temps in the 70′s all week. As much fun as we had spending with Uncle Johnny and our family over Thanksgiving I took almost no pictures. Here are the highlights of our pictures:
and what I will miss most about Alabama.
Cancer, Packing and Dreams
Recently my mom was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. God was looking out for her by having doctors find it on a routine chest x-ray after she had pneumonia last spring. We are not really worried about the cancer as much as we are her kidney. She had a kidney transplant almost 20 years ago and has been doing great ever since. It is scary for a kidney transplant patient to go under any sort of surgery. If her blood pressure spikes during that surgery is can cause huge damage to her one and only kidney. (Please keep her in your prayers on December 3).
Anyways….the past month has been work, traveling to Roswell Cancer Center in Buffalo at least once a week and not feeling the best myself between my anemia and getting a cold I have been dragging ass all month. I can’t even recollect the last time I touched my camera. Photography has become my form of relaxation the last couple of years and I miss it. Sunday we leave for vacation for a week and I am so excited. Gary, Miss Allie and myself along with my parents, Miss Sarah and Zachary are off to Alabama for a week. However; I think my subconscious is trying to tell me it is time to start packing…
The other night I have this dream that I show up at work in this little nightie (which I would never wear in real life). I am so stressed I don’t even realize that this is how I am dressed until two of the guys on our road crew make a remark. I then scream jump in my car and drive to my moms (because in my dream she lives very close to were I work) so that I can borrow some clothes. I get there she doesn’t have anything for me to wear because she packed all her clothes for vacation. She’s organized and ready to go. I think I need to get packed before I show up at work in real life in my pajamas.
Lea
p.s. I have twice, yes Twice, this month forgotten to finish doing my hair before going to work. That is really sad when it only takes me about 5 minutes from start to finish.
Pumpkinville
About an hour from our house is Pumpkinville. It’s a field in the middle of nowhere is that is a popular tourist spot go get pumpkins, explore the maze through the corn, enjoy fresh cider, apples and pies. This was our first time there. Me being the wonderful Aunt that I am thought this would be a fun day for Miss Sarah. I stopped and grabbed my sister and her grandson who is about Sarah’s age…
I was actually able to get them to stand there without kicking each other but forget about smiling for me.
There was actually a smile for this one. Not sure why?
and when it came to the cute cutouts they just wanted to punch each other through the holes instead of posing.
I will admit though, I think Sarah started most of it. She’s only 2 we have a lot of years to go!
Once again…
I really wanted Sunday to be a pj day. You know the kind of day you never get dressed, do a little housework here and there, catch up on TV, and just be lazy. I swore to myself I was not going to leave the house and I almost made it. Until…my dear husband….decided to take the tractor up to a neighbors.
Before he left I asked him if he had enough gas (long story there).
“I should have” he says “but if I run out I will call you and you can bring me some”.
Me: “Why not put some in before you leave”
Move ahead 15 minutes, me comfortable watching “Thintervention”, phone rings- Yep he’s out of gas.
So Allie and I (yes I am still in my jammies) load in the truck with camera in hand so I can remind him of how once again I saved the day!
